Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Witch Prophet, Tafari Anthony, the Beaches

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished May 5, 2023

We've spent the past week pondering some big questions: did Ed Sheeran accidentally rip off Marvin GayeIs Mac DeMarco a millionaireIs Taylor Swift dating that guy who ate raw meat onstage? If only the World Health Organization had given half that big-brained energy to declaring that the pandemic is no longer a global health emergency... but we suppose that's above our pay grade.

The week's best new Canadian music, however, is right on the money. Tafari Anthony is "Falling Back" into an infectious groove, and the Beaches shift the blame on their new single, which comes with the news of their long-awaited sophomore album Blame My Ex.

In album releases, we have exciting projects from Witch Prophet (Gateway Experience), Gord Downie and Bob Rock, Amos the Kid (Enough as It Was) and Mouraine. There were also new EPs from the likes of Patrick Holland and Skiifall

Elsewhere, "time waits" for Toronto's Glitter Party and Vancouver's Lightning Dust are fighting a "Different War." Meanwhile, Nora Kelly Band have announced their Mint Records debut, and fellow Montrealer Alex Nicol is plotting an upcoming EP.

Your head will not be empty (unless you're into that kinda thing) while deep-diving into The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
