Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Shad, Benita, Omega Mighty

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Aug 20, 2021

On this day, Lorde has finally risen — but Canadian artists are no slouches either!

Shad has also made his seasonal return with "Body (No Reason)," Toronto's Benita plots her runaway romance, Haviah Mighty's sister and "Whine Masta" Omega Mighty takes us to the dancehall, DijahSB answers the question "How good?" and Inuk hip-hop artist Shauna Seeteenak fights the good fight on hopeful transmission "See the Light."

It's album release week for Cartel Madras, Badge Epoch, Kirty, LTtheMonk, SonReal and the legendary Martha Wainwright, so naturally we've got highlights from those records. In terms of collaborations, Shad drops a verse on a Dave Monks' "Don't Get Pushed Around," TOBi links up with Jazz Cartier, Antony Carle lends vocals to fellow Montrealer Ouri, and Exclaim! New Faves alum James Baley gets Karim Olen Ash for a remix of "Banishment."

More comeback season news: there's a new single from Hamilton's Ellevator. Meanwhile, Ducks Ltd., Homeshake, Jasper Sloan Yip and Spiritbox continue to tease their upcoming album releases. Speaking of — Hubert Lenoir announced his next project and gave us the first taste with "DIMANCHE SOIR."

Our soundtrack for the weekend will definitely speak your language. Turn up The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
