Winnipeg up-and-comer Boniface specializes in maximalist synth-pop with an intimate touch, and now they're highlighting this year's self-titled album with a video for the album track "It's a Joke."

The clip for the touching, wildly catchy tune shows project mastermind Micah Visser leading their band while dressed like a royal courtier from the future. Full of quirky robo dances and some clever forced perspective, it was apparently shot in Toronto just one day before coronavirus lockdowns began.

In a statement, Visser said, "It's weird to think about now. But I'm glad it's the last thing we got to do. Basically, we just wanted to have fun with this one. And we did! The energy was so positive on set and I think the playful nature of the song really comes through in the video. We also finally got to pay homage to ABBA in a Boniface video, which I've wanted to do from the start."
