Flying Lotus Hits the Studio with Herbie Hancock

BY Josiah HughesPublished Mar 25, 2013

The jazz elements of Los Angeles beatmaker Flying Lotus's output were all over last year's excellent Until the Quiet Comes, so it should come as no surprise that the performer (and great-nephew of jazz greats Alice and John Coltrane) might be collaborating with the legendary Herbie Hancock.

Yesterday (March 24), the social media savvy performer tweeted a Vine video showcasing himself in the studio with Hancock as well as frequent collaborator Thundercat. That's all we have to go on for now, though there's no question they're working on some sort of material.

Back in December, FlyLo tweeted, "Working on the Captain Murphy LP, Thundercat LP2, and some project I'm not allowed to talk about!"

Stay tuned for more details as they become available. As previously reported, Flying Lotus has a North American tour on the way. All dates are available below.
