In 2017, we learned that John Wick would make a move from the big screen to television with The Continental, and it's now been revealed that Mel Gibson star in the prequel series.

Deadline reports that Gibson will play a character named Cormac in the series, which will delve into the origins of the hotel-for-assassins prominently featured in the John Wick universe.

The Continental, which will air as a three-night special-event TV series, produced by Starz for Lionsgate Television, will follow a young Winston Scott and how his journey through New York's underworld led to him owning the hotel.

Ian McShane, who plays Winston Scott in the John Wick films, has said previously that he won't appear in The Continental, though Deadline adds he might do voice-over work. As for Keanu Reeves, it was previously reported that while he won't star in the series, he was in talks to be an executive producer.

John Wick: Chapter Four is currently shooting ahead of an expected 2022 release. This past May, it was revealed that Rina Sawayama had landed a role in the film.
