Gina Carano was booted from her role as Cara Dune in The Mandalorian last month over her insensitive comments about the Holocaust, the COVID-19 pandemic and people's use of gender pronouns. Since then, multiple conservatives have come to her defence and now, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has spoken vaguely in support of her removal, explaining that the company stands for "values of decency."
Speaking at an annual shareholders' meeting [via The Hollywood Reporter] Chapek maintained that Disney stands "for values that are universal: Values of respect, values of decency, values of integrity and values of inclusion."
He added: "We seek to have the content that we make reflective of the rich diversity of the world we live in. And I think that's a world we should all live in harmony and peace."
Chapek would not answer a caller's question about whether or not Carano has been added to the Disney "blacklist," but responded that he doesn't "see Disney as characterizing itself as right-leaning or left-leaning."
The CEO's comments come following a wave of far-right supporters' criticism of Disney in the wake of Carano's firing. Notorious anti-SJW figurehead Ben Shapiro teamed up with Carano on a new film project, while MAGA enthusiast and System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan also rushed to the actress's defence.
Meanwhile, Hasbro has reportedly pulled the plug on Cara Dune figures as a direct result of Carano's unceremonious dismissal.
