Atlanta is finally coming back: after a three-year hiatus, the third season of Donald Glover's critically acclaimed FX comedy will premiere on Thursday, March 24 at 10 p.m. ET with two new episodes [via Variety].

As previously reported, we knew we could expect new Atlanta episodes to air in the first half of 2022 — but now there's finally an official premiere set. Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes total, and will be available to watch via in-season streaming on Hulu for the first time. (Hulu is only in the US, although the first two seasons of Atlanta are currently available to watch in Canada on Apple TV.)

"We are thrilled to have Atlanta back with a new season on March 24th," FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier said in a statement. "Once again, Donald Glover, the producers and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes Atlanta so great."

Here's FX's brief synopsis for the third season:

Taking place almost entirely in Europe, Season 3 finds Earn (Donald Glover), Alfred / Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour, as the group navigates their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.

Early 2020 brought the news that the third and fourth seasons of Atlanta were being shot and written together, with the former set in Europe and the latter filmed in Atlanta. The most recent new episode of the series aired all the way back in May 2018.

On Halloween, Glover shared a brief teaser for the new season and has previously claimed that the forthcoming crop of episodes are "the best TV since The Sopranos."
