If you head down to your local record shop on Friday (July 10), you just might get your hands on a free 7-inch from Youth Lagoon. The sensitive songwriter born Trevor Powers has announced that he's releasing his new single "The Knower" as an vinyl freebie.
On Facebook, Youth Lagoon posted a photo of dirty-gold coloured 7-inch with a blank label. He also shared a map that points to all of the record stores that will have the single in stock. Most of the participating shops are in the U.S. or Europe, but there's also three Canadian stores: Vancouver's Zulu Records, Toronto's Sonic Boom, and Montreal's Aux 33 Tours.
It seems that quantities will be fairly limited. The Facebook post advised fans, "It's free, but get there early." Of course, even if you don't manage to pick up a copy, the song is bound to emerge online soon enough.
Youth Lagoon's most recent album was 2013's Wondrous Bughouse. It remains to be seen whether "The Knower" will be followed by a new full-length.
