Sure, Nick Nurse's 2019 appearance alongside Arkells was a sweet gig, but the Toronto Raptors head coach certainly upped the ante after performing alongside Prince's former band, the New Power Generation.

As part of TD Toronto Jazz Fest 2022, Nurse joined the band Sunday evening (June 26) on the festival's main stage at the corner of Avenue Road and Bloor Street West.

Below, you can find fan-shot footage of the Raptors coach performing "Purple Rain" with the group, both onstage and during an earlier sound check. On Facebook, the New Power Generation shared the photo of Nurse and themselves seen above, complete with custom "NPG" Raptors jerseys.

Last year, Nurse revealed that he has been searching for a copy of Prince's hyper rare 1987 LP The Black Album. The coach's next gig comes with the Canadian national men's basketball team, who open training camp today ahead of World Cup qualifying games in July.

As previously reported, the 2022 edition of TD Toronto Jazz Fest runs June 24 to July 3 at various downtown Toronto venues.
