In the wake of Gord Downie's passing last year, many musical friends and contemporaries paid tribute to the Tragically Hip frontman. Now, Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament has been spotted with a wearable tribute of his own, thanks to a fan at a recent show in Spain.

Photos have emerged online of Ament sporting a black shirt that reads "Gord Fucking Downie" during Pearl Jam's July 10 performance in Barcelona. Some fans on Twitter have said the shirt came from a fan in the front row, who swapped tees with Ament at the bassist's request.

Additionally, fan-shot footage from the performance shows the Downie tee getting featured on the big screen, before Eddie Vedder dedicates a performance of "Come Back" to the Tragically Hip frontman and a late friend of his own named Ken.

Some photo evidence dug up by Twitter user Mark Hebscher shows Ament wearing a Cult T-shirt earlier in the set, and you can find that below. The photo of Ament's new threads also found its way to Hip guitarist Paul Langlois, who commented, "Love it. And I feel the same."

Last year, Ament named Downie's solo cut "Snowflake" as one of his favourite songs of 2017 for Rolling Stone.

"Our band was on parallel paths with Tragically Hip. It's strange we didn't cross those paths more often," he told the publication. "Gord made an unbelievable swan song of an album [last year's Introduce Yerself]. I cried the whole first listen. So beautiful and honest. Sonically it reminds me so much of where I grew up in north central Montana, which is basically Canada."

Pearl Jam recently delivered new single "Can't Deny Me," while the Tragically Hip recently had a line of cannabis strains named in their honour.
