Canadian rockers Walrus are about to embark on a string of fall tour dates, but they certainly won't be travelling town to town in an Avis van this time around.
Previously, the band borrowed a van from Avis Car Rental, putting the company's "unlimited kilometres" offer to the test. Turns out they pushed the limits of unlimited and were sent a notice to take their business elsewhere.
The group's last trek through the States found them dealing with a smashed in window, so when the car rental service called to tell them that they couldn't take out the van they had booked for the following day, they figured it must have been related to the broken glass.
"I assumed this was from the window being smashed out, but instead they told me I was on the list for 'high mileage risk' and that I'm never to rent a vehicle from Avis again," the band's Justin Murphy tells Exclaim! "Apparently 18,000 km in 20 days is too many or something. I fell for the deceptive 'unlimited kilometres' trick."
As for where Walrus will be taking their business in the future? "Fuck Avis," they said. "Discount forever."
Looks like Discount will be getting a bump in business over the next few weeks, as the band hit the road through Canada and the U.S. See the full list of upcoming shows listed below.
