Vancouver's B-Lines Return with New Twelve-Inch

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 10, 2011

Vancouver quartet B-Lines have been combining their scrappy, pop-infused hardcore with a dry, sardonic sense of humour for four years now, but their recorded output has been scarce. Aside from a hard-to-find demo cassette, the band only released their excellent seven-inch debut in 2009. Now, they will follow it up with a nine-song twelve-inch.

Like their past efforts, this record is also self-titled and covers themes that span from Vancouver's climate ("It Rains") and the walking habits of the Downtown Eastside ("Hastings Strut") to a fictional LSD-laden chemistry class ("Psychedelic High School"). The record was produced by bassist Adam Fothergill at the band's Vancouver practice space.

B-Lines is expected to be out in March as a split release between Nominal Records and Deranged. The first pressing of the record will also include a zine. In addition to this record, the band are already writing and recording another twelve-inch, tentatively planned for release later this year.
