Tyondai Braxton Splits with Battles

BY Stephen CarlickPublished Aug 6, 2010

Experimental, rhythm-fascinated collective Battles announced this morning (August 6) via their label Warp Records that the band's Tyondai Braxton has left the group.

A statement posted on the Warp website reads:

Battles and Tyondai would like to let their fans know they have chosen to follow their own musical paths.

Due to Battles' ambitions of finishing their second studio album followed by commitments to a full touring schedule in 2011, and Tyondai's own commitments as a solo artist and his desire not to tour, both Battles and Tyondai have decided to move on without each other.

It is a sad but amicable split.

Battles wishes Tyondai all the best

So, Battles is now a trio (at least for the time being), and Tyondai Braxton is now an unfettered solo musician.

Braxton released his most recent solo album, Central Market, in 2009. And as for Battles, well, still no sign of that Mirrored follow-up.
