Winterruption YEG Gets DEBBY FRIDAY, B.A. Johnston, Hot Garbage for 2024 Edition

With additional performances by Geese, Bry Webb, By Divine Right, NYSSA, Janette King, Burs, Sunglaciers, Waahli, Vox Rea and more

Winterruption YEG returns to Edmonton for its fourth year to heat up the bleak midwinter once again next year. Taking place from January 24 to 28, the beloved annual event has just announced its second round of performers — with even more yet to come.

Among this year's performing artists are 2023 breakout star (and Polaris Prize winner) DEBBY FRIDAYB.A. Johnston, Hot Garbage, Geese, Bry Webb (Constantines), By Divine Right, NYSSA, Janette King, Burs, Sunglaciers, Waahli, Vox Rea, Shane Ghostkeeper, Wake, Sunny War, Battles, Withdrawal, the Jins, Barry Paquin Roberge, Dave Hill, Alex Nicol, Peter Dreams (July Talk), MOONRIIVR and Aladean Kheroufi, as well as the return of Concealer for their first local show in almost eight years.

"Each year, I'm thrilled to program some new buzz acts, old favourites and established independent artists from Canada and internationally," festival producer Brent Oliver said in a release. "Excited to welcome artists from the US, France, England, Scotland as well as homegrown groups from Western Canada and the East."

In addition to musical performances, the festival's 2024 programming includes comedy, drag, wrestling and film. The festival will take over downtown with multiple outdoor and indoor stages, including events at the Starlite Room, Temple, Rocky Mountain Icehouse, Double Dragon, Freemasons Hall, SOHO YEG, 9910, Evolution Wonderlounge, Downtown Edmonton Community League, Oilers Ice District Plaza, Audrey's Books and the Cask & Barrel.
