Toronto's Blimp Rock Ready Debut Full-Length for Label Fantastic!

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 7, 2013

According to Blimp Rock's press materials, the Toronto band were "founded for the sole purpose of raising $700K to purchase a functioning airship for a music festival that will take place over Lake Ontario." We're not quite sure how they intend to make that much money or how safe this theoretical festival will be, but the group will release their self-titled debut LP on May 28 through Label Fantastic!

The album was recorded and mixed by James Bunton (Diamond Rings, PS I Love You), who also plays on the album. It's said to feature an accessible pop sound with songs that explore "Southern Ontario, having crushes and lifeguard conspiracy theories."

That's the album cover above and the tracklist below. At the bottom of this page, stream "Lake Ontario Lifeguards," an acoustic rock tune with baritone vocals and lyrics about exactly what you'd expect from the title.

While the label release isn't until May 28, a self-released version of the album is currently available on CD or cassette from Bandcamp.
