Tom Tom Club to Play Toronto and Montreal on North American Tour, Reissue Live Album

Since forming Tom Tom Club in 1981, husband and wife duo Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth have built on the rhythmic pulses of their tenure in Talking Heads with a higher devotion to funk. While they haven't released a new album since 2000's The Good, the Bad and the Funky, they continue to tear up stages with their hyperactive live show, which they will do again this year.

Besides their scheduled appearance at Pop Montreal, the band will embark on a North American tour this fall that includes another Canadian stop in Toronto. In a press release, Frantz promised an amazing set, saying, "We are all very excited about this tour, to go out and make new friends and reconnect with old friends. The band consists of seven players, is smoking hot and completely live. We don't use any sequencers or backing tapes at all."

In some related news, Latin imprint Nacional Records will release a live album called Genius of Love on September 28. The collection is a pared-down version of the band's 2002 double-disc Live @ the Clubhouse, along with a "Latin alternative remix tribute" of the title track.
