The internet just lost its mind over the idea of a potential Talking Heads reunion — a rumour that was debunked in no time. But as a consolation prize of sorts, the band's Chris Frantz has revealed he will be releasing a memoir.
Titled Remain in Love, the book by the famed Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club member will arrive on May 12 via St. Martin's Press. Of course, that title is a play on Talking Heads beloved 1980 album Remain in Light, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2020.
Frantz's book has been a long time coming and will include the inside story of the Talking Heads as told from his perspective. The book also promises to dive into his romance with Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club bandmate/wife Tina Weymouth.
Remain in Love will be made up on 320 pages, and its official description reads as follows:
One of the most iconic bands of the '70s and '80s, Talking Heads distinguished themselves from the ultra-cool Rolling Stones, the chaotic Sex Pistols, and glam rockers like David Bowie. Beautifully written with immersive vivid detail, the book moves from the rooms where the songs were made ― including Providence, RI and the Chrystie Street loft Frantz, Weymouth, and Byrne shared ― to the meals eaten and the clothes worn, right to the dynamics of a long and complicated working relationship with a mercurial frontman.
With the sense of place and time that characterized Patti Smith's book Just Kids, Remain in Love is as frank and open as autobiographies from rockers Neil Young and Keith Richards.
