The White Stripes are once again digging into the archives for a live release. Live in Las Vegas will be the latest quarterly Vault release from Third Man Records' subscription service.
Live in Las Vegas is a 3LP set captured in September 2003 at the Joint (located within the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino). This was during the tour for that year's Elephant, and the set includes numerous cuts from the album (including, of course, "Seven Nation Army").
An announcement from Third Man notes that it was an unusual show, in that around 40 fans were flown out for a meet-and-greet with the band, and later received a vinyl pressing of the show. Only 100 copies were made, and this marks the first proper commercial release of that recording.
Attendees at the show included Josh Hartnett, Daryl Hannah and Josh Klinghoffer. Just two months before, White broke his finger in a car crash, which altered the way he played guitar and made it impossible for him to play a D minor chord.
Also included in the set is a 7-inch containing a live recording of Elephant standout "Ball and Biscuit" with Bob Dylan. This came from Dylan's show on March 17, 2004, when he brought out Jack White. On the B-side of the single is another recording of "Ball and Biscuit," that one from May 2, 2002, at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, UK.
Live in Las Vegas comes on respectively red, white and black LPs. The 7-inch is pressed on glittery red wax.
