The Weeknd Announces New 'Starboy' LP

If the erasure of his Instagram account yesterday (Setember 20) caused you to believe that a new project from the Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) was imminent, you were correct. The Canadian R&B superstar has unveiled both the title and cover art of his next work, Starboy, which you can see above.

Taking to Twitter today, the artwork and title were revealed in a single tweet at noon EDT. The cover was shot by Nabil Elderkin, who has directed videos for Tesfaye in the past, and features the artist sporting a drastically different haircut than what we've seen him have recently.

As far as a release date for Starboy, it's due out November 25 via XO/Republic.

Tesfaye recently said the record was inspired by the likes of Bad Brains, Talking Heads and the Smiths. It could also feature some production work from music's favourite robotic duo Daft Punk, who Tesfaye shared a studio session with earlier this year.

UPDATE (9/21, 11:55 p.m. EDT): You can now hear the album's lead-off track "Starboy" over here, and it indeed features Daft Punk.
