Last year saw Suuns and Jerusalem in My Heart come together for a collaborative self-titled album, but the former have just announced plans for a new record of their very own.
Hold/Still marks the band's third studio album and follows 2013's Images du Futur. It will officially hit shelves on April 15 through Secret City in Canada and Secretly Canadian in the U.S.
The new material was recorded with John Congleton (who just announced plans for his own solo album) in Dallas during May of last year. Captured over the course of three weeks, the album is described in a press release as "a cerebral exploration of how to take live and analogue instruments and create a deeply textured 'electronic' record."
The first example of that sound arrives on the single "Translate." Suuns have been reworking and honing the track for years now, and it was one of the last to be completed for Hold/Still. Finally ready to be revealed, the song showcases the group's meticulously crafted sound, combining ominous synths with spiralling guitars, pulse-quickening percussion and breathy vocals.
"Translate" has been paired with a video courtesy of director Charles-André Coderre and uses thermal imagery to achieve a trippy, colourful effect. You can check it out in the player below.
In addition to the video, Suuns have shared a "Psych Remix" of the same track done by Dark Sky. You'll find it here.
