Just under a year ago, Sunset Rubdown announced their first North American tour since 2009, and the response was unanimous: it was worth the wait (and among your favourite shows of 2023).

It was also in 2009 that the Spencer Krug-led outfit released their most recent album, Dragonslayer — but they've now apparently recorded their first album in 15 years.

Over the weekend, a photo of the lineup of Krug, Nicholas Merz, Jordan RC and Camilla Wynne was posted to the Instagram account for the Noise Floor — a recording studio on British Columbia's Gabriola Island — with the caption, "Oh shit, we just made a new Sunset Rubdown record." Noise Floor co-owners Terry O and Jordan Koop are also pictured.

No further details have been shared yet, but there has seldom been a more appropriate time to use that side-eye emoji.
