Toronto post-hardcore unit Sparrows are set to unleash the video for "References to the Dead," and Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive first look at it.
The band signed to New Damage Records and put out an EP entitled Dragging Hell last year. "References to the Dead" first appeared on that release, but it's been given some new life thanks to the accompanying visuals.
The clip was directed, produced and edited by Miguel Barbosa and Ryan C. Glover, and sees the band bringing heavy noise and a hint of the supernatural to the quiet suburban streets.
"This video was a lot of fun to make, and we really got to indulge in our passion for horror movies," vocalist/guitarist Dan Thomson tells Exclaim! "Given the subject around the song, the idea of a Poltergeist-esque video was a no brainer. That being said, I hope I never see another strobe light again."
Heed his warning of flashing lights and prepare for things to get bloody. Sparrows will hit the studio to record new material next month, but for now, get spooked by the video for "References to the Dead" in the player below.
