Sonic Youth's 'Goo' Cover Gets 'Breaking Bad' Makeover on New T-Shirt

Two pop culture touchstones have converged into one brilliant T-shirt, as evidenced by a recent Breaking Bad parody shirt biting the look of Sonic Youth's classic Goo LP.

As you can see above, Raymond Pettibon's drawing for the Sonic Youth LP has been modified, recasting the couple in the car as Breaking Bad's baldheaded mastermind Walter White (a.k.a. actor Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (a.k.a. Aaron Paul). Playing off the show's drug theme, "Sonic Youth" has been changed to "Sonic Meth."

"I stole Combo's mom's RV. It was all whirlwind, heat, and flash. Within a week we killed Krazy-8 and hit the road," the shirt reads, hinting at a couple of plot points from the show.

The T-shirt had been up for sale through Society 6, but Adhoc reports that it's since been taken down due to undisclosed copyright issues.

Pettibon's original artwork referenced a 1966 news photo of Maureen Hindley and David Smith, two witnesses in the case of the "Moors murders" in Manchester, on their way to the trial of serial killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.

If you can't manage to track down a "Sonic Meth" shirt by the time Breaking Bad wraps up later this year, but still have a hankering for a similarly drugged-up Goo bite, you may want to ask Nardwuar where he got the ganja-puffin' Snoop Dogg parody he gifted the rapper earlier this year.
