Rick Astley Fan Takes Rickrolling to New Extremes with QR Code Tattoo

Never, ever

A man in Italy is going viral for getting tattooed with a QR code that directs anyone who scans it to the music video for Rick Astley's 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up."

Wales Online reported that the man is named Massimo Mancin, a tattoo shop manager in Italy — and he's got no regrets.

"I didn't expect it to work but luckily, it did. I kept looking over again to see if it was the right QR code," he told the publication. "I am going to keep the tattoo forever, even when I'm old."

Will QR codes still be a thing in the future? Sure hope not! But the bravery and ingenuity to get one permanently inked on your one human flesh vessel as a joke is impressive. That is, until you realize Mancin is actually just late to an insane offshoot of the Rickrolling trend.

A creator who goes by Isaiah Photo posted a TikTok in August 2021 in which he approached a pair of strangers and asked them to scan the Spotify code tattooed on his leg. It, of course, played "Never Gonna Give You Up" and mortified everyone within earshot.

Here's to hoping we get a CanCon QR code tattoo next (Nickelback's "Rockstar," anyone? Specifically, the part where the creepy voice from the ether goes, "I'll have the quesadilla"). In the meantime, enjoy a freshly-inked Rickrolling below.
