On Saturday (September 30), the inaugural Venus Fest, a self-described "arts celebration in the spirit of feminism," hit Daniels Spectrum on the east side of Toronto, bringing together some of the city's best established and up-and-coming musicians, including Hex, Ice Cream, Witch Prophet, Phèdre, Weaves, Lido Pimienta (pictured above) and more.

The daylong event lasted almost 12 hours, but festivalgoers had the freedom to come and go, whether that meant a moment of respite on the venue's sunny patio or perusing the arts, crafts and small press tables in the lobby.

We sent Exclaim! photographer Shane Parent to capture the magic of the day; below, check out a selection of photos to relive (or experience for the first time) the performances that made Venus Fest so special, then click through the full gallery at the bottom of the page.
