Today would have been Canadian songwriting icon Gordon Lightfoot's 85th birthday. To honour his legacy, Massey Hall and the Gordon Lightfoot Estate have organized a tribute concert.
Celebrating Gordon Lightfoot will take place at the historic Toronto venue on May 23, 2024. The evening will be led by two house bands: Blue Rodeo and the late legend's longtime touring troupe, the Lightfoot Band (Rick Haynes, Barry Keane, Mike Heffernan and Carter Lancaster).
UPDATE (4/18, 11:21 a.m. ET): City and Colour, Julian Taylor, Kathleen Edwards, Murray McLauchlan, Serena Ryder and Tom Wilson have also joined the lineup of artists paying tribute to the late legend.
Additional performers set to join the festivities include recent Exclaim! cover star Allison Russell, Burton Cummings, Tom Cochrane, Aysanabee, William Prince, Sylvia Tyson, the Good Brothers, Meredith Moon, Caroline Wiles & Bob Doidge, and more yet to be announced.
The star-studded celebration has been in the works since shortly after Lightfoot's death on May 1. Tickets are on sale now.
