Led by towering, technicolour new single "The Likes of Us," Newcastle-upon-Tyne indie rock outfit Lanterns on the Lake are back with a new album — and their lineup for it includes a new face that might be very familiar: Radiohead's Philip Selway.

Versions of Us arrives on June 2 via Bella Union. It follows the band's 2020 Mercury Prize-nominated Spook the Herd.

"This record is the one we are most proud of," Lanterns on the Lake shared in an Instagram post. "But it is the one that truth be told, almost didn't see the light of day."

"Writing songs requires a certain level of self-indulgence, and songwriters can be prone to dwelling on themselves," songwriter Hazel Wilde expanded in a statement. "Motherhood made me aware of having a different stake in the world. I've got to believe that there's a better way and an alternative future to the one we've been hurtling towards. I've also got to believe that I could be better as a person, too."

Of the Radiohead drummer's addition to the lineup, the band added: "Philip came in during a dark time for us and pulled us out the other side."

Selway released his latest solo album, Strange Dance, just last week — and took the Exclaim! Questionnaire to mark the occasion.
