The Mercury Prize will once again celebrate the best of British music this year, and the shortlist of nominees for the 2020 award has been revealed.

The prize will "celebrate and promote the best of British music recognizing artistic achievement across a range of contemporary music genres."

This year's nominees are Anna Meredith, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Georgia, Kano, Lanterns on the Lake, Laura Marling, Michael Kiwanuka, Moses Boyd, Porridge Radio, Sports Team and Stormzy

The winner will be announced on September 24, and organizers note that "it is likely that a live awards show will not be happening" due to COVID-19.

The winner will be decided by a panel of judges that includes Anna Calvi, Annie Mac, Gaz Coombes, Jamie Cullum, Jorja Smith and more.

"In these difficult and uncertain times the Hyundai Mercury Prize is proud to celebrate the remarkable power of music to inspire and exhilarate," a judges statement reads. "The albums on the 2020 shortlist showcase a great diversity of sounds, styles, ambitions and experience. What these albums share is an irresistible urgency, a belief that their music matters more than ever."
