R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe has been enjoying his post-R.E.M. life as a visual artist and photographer, but he recently revealed that he's still been making lots of new music.
According to Italian magazine La Repubblica, Stipe has 18 songs ready for a yet-to-be-determined release.
Bearing in mind that his answers have probably been over-translated from English to Italian and back to English, Stipe said, "Eighteen songs are already ready. For five years I'd had a clean break from music. Now I'm writing, composing and recording all by myself and for the first time."
The singer debuted three new songs earlier this year when he opened for Patti Smith at a show in New York, though those songs have not yet been given formal releases.
