Prism Prize Reveals 2017's Top 10 Finalists

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Apr 4, 2017

For the fifth consecutive year, the Prism Prize will be awarded to one Canadian artist for his or her achievement in music video making. As an added bonus, the cash reward has been bumped up to $15,000 for the 2017 prize — and now the list of contenders has been whittled down to 10 finalists.

A jury has narrowed the pool down from the previously announced Top 20, voting for its selections based on originality, creativity, style, innovation and effective execution.

You can now see the Top 10 list below. It includes videos by the likes of Grimes, BADBADNOTGOOD, July Talk, PUP and more.

As previously reported, the prize will be handed out during a screening and awards ceremony on May 14 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. Last year's prize was awarded to Kalle Mattson for his "Avalanche" video, which was directed by Philip Sportel.

Beyond the list of nominees, you'll find a video trailer sampling some of the fine works that are still in the running.
