While we're going to have to wait until 2017 to get the goods out of Prince's autobiography, the Purple One has announced he's going to bring the hits to Toronto this Friday (March 25) as part of his ongoing "Piano & a Microphone" tour.

The surprise gigs were announced today (March 23) in a press release, which confirms that the legendary pop, rock and R&B explorer will be performing two shows at Toronto's Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on Friday, with one starting at 7 p.m. EDT and the next at 10 p.m.

While it's explained that these performances will have Prince performing unique setlists culled from all over his 39-album back catalogue, it's hinted that the artist has recently been handling choice cuts from 1999, Purple Rain and Sign o' the Times.

Though nothing is set in stone for either of these two Toronto performances, this tour has also found Prince performing songs he wrote for the Time, Sheila E. and Vanity 6, and also covering the likes of Joni Mitchell, Paul Robeson and Ray Charles.

Perhaps the most mind-bending reveal is that some of the shows have had him tackling a "Thelonious Monk-style version of the theme to Batman."

Tickets for either show will not be cheap, with price points ranging from $125 to $325, plus service charges. Seats go up for grabs tomorrow (March 24) at 10 a.m. local time, with a four-ticket limit being enforced online, over the phone and at the Sony Centre's box office. You can get tickets online here or by calling 1-855-872-7669.

As if you needed a bonus for seeing Prince in concert, ticketholders will be gifted a CD copy of the artist's HITNRUN – Phase II album upon entry.
