Toronto beatmaker Josh McIntyre makes up one half of the electropop duo Prince Innocence and produces electronic music under the name Prince Josh. But before that, he spearheaded the ultra-lo-fi post-punk project Little Girls. He's now compiled that band's music into the anthology album What We Did (2009-2012).
The compilation includes a trio of 2009 releases: the Concepts LP, the Thrills EP, and the Youth Tunes / Venom 7-inch. There are also four unreleased songs from 2012, plus the band's only ever full-band recording (for what would have been Little Girls' second LP). The 2011 EP Cults is omitted.
In a statement, McIntyre told Exclaim!, "I changed the tracklisting so all the songs are in order from when I wrote them. It was a fun trip digging up some of these old recordings and spending hours trying to find a couple of loose tracks that seem to be lost in depths of the internet."
The album artwork was designed by Lauren Armstrong. It's out today for Bandcamp Friday, and it will get a physical release sometime in 2021. Hear it all below.
