Pipettes Lose Two Members, Gain Two Members

Well, it looks like the history of the Pipettes is shaping up to be this: three Pipettes enter, two Pipettes leave, two entirely new Pipettes replace them. Yes, the polka-dot sporting pop act is going through some personnel changes.

According to a post on the band’s website, "The Pipettes have two new members, Ani and Anna ... This means that RiotBecki and Rosay have left to pursue other musical pursuits (which will be brilliant when they emerge). We wish them all the best, we’re all still great friends, and news on their pursuits will be closely supported by us.”

So it now looks like the only original vocalist that will be on the follow-up to 2006’s We Are the Pipettes (due out this summer) will be Julia "The Duchess (of Darkness).” Let’s hope she was your favourite. And if not, the Pipettes are urging you to remain calm. "People may be confused by such a drastic change in line-up but please rest assured — if we were to be an imitation of ourselves we would stop. Plus the Pipettes has more members come and go than major labels have A&R men, it's just another day in the office for us.”

And if these words are still not enough to stop your blood from boiling, the Pipettes direct you to their manifesto for a more in depth explanation or to this prepared video.
