Photos of Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix Emerge

We can hardly believe it ourselves, but it looks as if that long-delayed Jimi Hendrix biopic starring Outkast's Andre 3000 is actually happening. Reports of the film date way back to 2006, but these plans appeared to be abandoned after Hendrix's estate refused to grant the filmmakers rights to any of the late star's music. Now, however, proof has hit the web that this project is indeed a go.

Rumours have been swirling in recent weeks that the project had been rekindled, and photos of Andre dressed as Hendrix have confirmed those reports. The pictures show Andre dressed in a robe on a film set, and in many of the snaps he's shielding his face from the evidently unwelcome photographer. Despite Andre's apparent attempts to evade the camera, there's no mistaking that it's him dressed as the legendary lefty axe-slinger.

The film will be titled All Is by My Side. Given that Hendrix's estate isn't on board, we're guessing that the flick won't include any of Jimi's original music.

The film, written and directed by John Ridley, is currently filming for six weeks in Ireland and will cover the years 1966-67, when Hendrix was making his first album, Are You Experienced, in England.
