Last year was undeniably huge for Paramore. With the release of This Is Why — their first album in five years and one of 2023's best — and the ongoing heyday of emo-nostalgia festivals, they put together an excellent live show and took it across the world, garnering another Grammy nomination along the way.
The band's future, however, seems to remain uncertain: yesterday (January 4), they announced that they were cancelling their scheduled headlining set at iHeartRadio's ALTer Ego festival in Anaheim, CA, on January 13 "due to unforeseen circumstances." They'll be replaced by frontperson Hayley Williams's fellow Speak Now (Taylor's Version) guest stars Fall Out Boy.
This comes a week after Paramore wiped all content from their social media accounts and official website, causing some fans to fear the worst. Others have pointed out that the band have fulfilled their contractual obligations to their label, Atlantic Records, and might be taking a break.
As they shared on their Instagram Story last month, completing their tour behind This Is Why has brought "a chapter of the band's career" to a close. "As for the future of Paramore, all three members agreed that there's a level of uncertainty," the statement continued.

Paramore are currently still slated to support Taylor Swift's Europe and UK Eras tour dates starting this spring.
