Osees' John Dwyer Prepares New Album 'Posh Swat,' Shares Two New Songs

The "all percussion improvisation album" features players from last year's 'Gong Splat' album

Osees leader John Dwyer's stable of recent exploratory releases — Gong Splat, Bent Arcana, Moon Drenched, Witch Egg and Endless Garbage among them — will continue to grow in 2023. A new effort dubbed Posh Swat will land February 17 via Rock Is Hell.

The 12-song Posh Swat is described as an "all percussion improvisation" album, featuring Dwyer, drummer Ryan Sawyer and percussionist Andres Renteria — both of whom played on last year's aforementioned Gong Splat.

Dwyer describes the tones, timbres — vibes, even — of Posh Swat as follows: "Trap kit, Hand percussion, homemade percussion instruments and electronic percussion over flow here with extra weirdness. Sick pop rhythms grinding thru the wasteland."

You can hear what those elements can form with the pair of "Dungeon Crawler" and "Bug City" in the player below, and here's a little more scene-setting from Dwyer for good measure:

Sand in your hair and bugs in your teeth.
Hand on your knife, knife in your sheath.
Grimy bass burps thru a fried stack.
And the crack of the snare is a mighty pink smack.
Bells, whistles conga and vibes.
This is a drug record.
One thousand times

Last year, Dwyer and Osees — f.k.a. Thee Oh Sees/OCS/Oh Sees — released new album A Foul Form.
