The JUNO Awards have announced the host of the 2024 broadcast, as well as the first slate of performers and special honourees.
Mid-aughts icon Nelly Furtado returns to host the event — taking place March 24 at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax — for the second time, following her 2007 hosting debut in Saskatoon. Furtado, who recently reunited with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake for a new single, will also perform at the awards alongside Charlotte Cardin, the Beaches and this year's Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Maestro Fresh Wes.
Tegan and Sara will make a special appearance during the broadcast to receive the Humanitarian Award for their philanthropic efforts with the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which functions as an extension of their queer identities and advocacy for gender justice.
Additionally, the JUNOs have begun the rollout of JUNO Week events. Things kick off on March 21 with JUNO Stories from the Studio at the Halifax Central Library, followed by the JUNO Comedy Show at Alderney Landing, JUNO Songwriters' Circle at the Light House Arts Centre and the first day of JUNOfest — which takes over more than 10 venues across the city — on March 22.
JUNOfest continues on March 23, as well as an Honouring Ceremony and the JUNO Opening Night Awards. On March 24, the big day begins with Junior JUNOS ahead of the awards ceremony, which will be followed by an afterparty at the Grafton Connor Complex.
The 2024 JUNO Awards will broadcast live across Canada on CBC at 8 p.m. ET, and stream globally online via CBC Music and YouTube. Tickets to attend in person go on sale to the general public this Friday (November 10) at 10 a.m. AT, with presales ongoing.
