Mark Ronson to Break Down "Back to Black," "Uptown Funk" and More on New BBC Maestro Course

The pre-recorded 18-class course will premiere in full on July 5

Mark Ronson has announced his new tenure of pop music professor with his own BBC Maestro course, wherein he'll break down the creation of songs like Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" and Bruno Mars's "Uptown Funk."

The 18-class series is arriving in full on July 5 and will feature "some special guests," according to a press release. During the pre-recorded course, Ronson will take students "deep into his studio process, walking through presets, tones, programs," teaching viewers how to build songs from scratch.

Ronson's course will be the first BBC Maestro series to come from an American creator after launching in 2020. In a trailer for the course, Ronson says "my plan is to let you see from end to end precisely how I piece together my own productions."

Ronson's last solo album (including plenty of features, of course) was 2019's Late Night Feelings.
