Martin Short, Robbie Robertson Lead Canadian Nominees at the 2024 Golden Globes

'Barbie,' 'Oppenheimer' and 'Succession' top the list

BY Ben OkazawaPublished Dec 11, 2023

The complete list of nominees for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards has been released and, as expected, Barbie and Oppenheimer lead the way in the film categories with 10 and eight nominations apiece.

Meanwhile, the lone nominees from north of the border are Martin Short (Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy) Ryan Gosling (Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture) and the late, great Robbie Robertson (Best Original Score, Motion Picture). Short is in the running for his role on Hulu's Only Murders in the Building and Gosling is up for his Kenergy in Barbie while Robertson is nominated for his work on Martin Scorsese's controversial new film Killers of the Flower Moon

On the TV side of the list, Succession is a clear frontrunner with nine nominations. Chasing it are The Bear and Only Murders in the Building, which scored five nods each.

Notably, Nathan Fielder is absent from the nominees, despite his The Curse co-star Emma Stone receiving a nomination for her work on the show.

Elsewhere, Billie Eilish, FINNEAS, Dua Lipa and Mark Ronson have combined for three nominations as a result of their musical contributions to Barbie in the Best Original Song, Motion Picture category, where they'll compete against Bruce Springsteen (She Came to Me), Jack Black (The Super Mario Bros. Movie) and Lenny Kravitz (Rustin).
