Louise Burns

"Pharaoh"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 7, 2016

While Vancouver singer-songwriter Louise Burns is currently working on a full-length follow-up to 2013's The Midnight Mass, she's offered up a bit of music for us before that record lands in full. A just-released 7-inch features two new tracks, and A-side "Pharaoh" is streaming online now.

The tune is the first in-studio offering from Burns and current backup band of guitarist/keyboardiast Jody Glenham, guitarist Darcy Hancock (Ladyhawk) and drummer Ryan Peters (Ladyhawk). Together, they offer up a pleasantly hazy mix of textured six-strings, gently shuffled drums and calming vocal harmonies.

Sounding something like a dream-pop take on Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," the piece can be heard below.

An ETA on Burns' third solo album has yet to arrive, but it'll be delivered through Light Organ Records.
