It's an important week for Newfoundland indie rock outfit Long Distance Runners, who will release their sophomore album Elements on Friday (October 9). In the meantime, the whole thing can be steamed here on Exclaim!
Opener "The One" starts off the album with rich, pastoral folk that takes a mind-expanding turn with its psychedelic melodies, vocal filters and swelling orchestral rock crescendos. This sets the tone for an 11-song collection that combines genres and utilizes an array of instruments to create a lush sound. This ranges from the woozy, cerebral dreaminess of "Wolves" to the fuzz-flecked, Wilco-style rootsiness of "High Tide."

Long Distance Runners will play a hometown release show in St. John's at the Rock House on October 9. They plan to tour in the spring.
