BBC's Peaky Blinders is getting an official soundtrack this fall, and to the delight of PJ Harvey fans everywhere, her cover of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' "Red Right Hand" is included in the OST.
The original Nick Cave song had previously acted as the series' theme song, but Harvey was commissioned for the cover back in 2014 in an effort to make the song sound "less American."
Harvey's "Red Right Hand" was recorded with longtime collaborator Flood, who also serves as the music producer for Peaky Blinders. An interview with Flood had him explaining that he recruited Harvey for the project after facing accusations that the show, a post-World War I gangster epic, came across as too American.
"We're trying to make it feel much more European and British and PJ fits that bill perfectly," he told BBC Radio 6. "I phoned Polly up and she was very interested. We're trying to deconstruct all of Polly's material and then weave it through, it's very cutting-edge and modern."
The Peaky Blinders soundtrack will also feature Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, the White Stripes, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Queens of the Stone Age, Foals, the Last Shadow Puppets, Laura Marling and more.

Nick Cave and PJ Harvey were romantically involved for a period of time in the '90s before breaking up, citing Cave's problems "understanding the concept of monogamy." They worked together on Cave's 1996 album Murder Ballads, famously performing a duet on "Henry Lee."
