Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced a new album called Ghosteen. It's due out next week.

Cave revealed the upcoming record via his Red Hand Files website earlier today, and explained the unusual structure of the album.

UPDATE (9/24, 11:15 a.m. EDT): Ghosteen will be released digitally on October 4, with the album first premiering on YouTube on October 3. Get further details of the YouTube stream here. The vinyl and CD will be released on November 8, and you can pre-order the album.

A double album, Cave said that "the songs on the first album are the children," while "the songs on the second album are their parents."
