Back in March, it was announced that Animal Collective would be reissuing their 2000 debut Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished — that's out today, and it comes attached to an EP of previously unreleased songs called A Night at Mr. Raindrop's Holistic Supermarket.
Among the five unearthed songs on the companion EP is a trippy, destabilizing cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," which you can listen to now. The cover rides a jangling, thunderous beat and a wash of wigged-out synths and atmospherics. The original melody remains pretty much entirely intact, but Animal Collective definitely make the song their own.
The cover was recorded at the same time as Spirit They're Gone… and was mixed by Deakin. They'd previously shared the unreleased song "Untitled #1" when they announced the reissue, and you can listen to the whole reissued album and the A Night at Mr. Raindrop's Holistic Supermarket EP below.
