Kacey Musgraves Announces New Album 'star-crossed'

Kacey Musgraves has shared details of her fifth studio album. The American artist will share new LP star-crossed on September 10 through Interscope/UMG Nashville.

The 15-song star-crossed — which Musgraves has called her "post-divorce album" — is said to be "structured as a modern-day tragedy in three acts," telling "an extremely personal journey of heartache and healing."

The album will arrive accompanied by a 50-minute film directed by Bardia Zeinali, which can be streamed exclusively on Paramount Plus. The visuals feature cameos from Eugene Levy, Victoria Pedretti, Princess NokiaRuPaul's Drag Race winner Symone, and comedian Megan Stalter.

Zeinali shared of the film in a statement, "We wanted it to feel cinematic and epic without compromising the heart and the emotion, to feel fantastical and heightened and tell her story through the lens of art and fashion." 

You can hear the album's title track, on which Musgraves sings of "two lovers ripped right at the seams," alongside the trailer for the star-crossed film below. 

This latest album follows Musgraves' acclaimed fourth LP Golden Hour, which Exclaim! named among the Top 10 Folk and Country Albums of 2018.
