Kacey Musgraves is sharing Deeper Well — the follow-up to 2021’s star-crossed — on March 15, and today we get another taste of the record with new single “Too Good to Be True,” which follows the folky, fingerpicked title track.
“Too Good to Be True” is also folky and fingerpicked, and finds Musgraves mulling over a new relationship. “Please don’t make me regret / Opening up that part of myself / I’ve been scared to give again,” she sings over acoustic guitars and steady percussion.
The song interpolates Anna Nalick’s 2005 VH1 hit “Breathe (2AM),” so Nalick gets a songwriting credit alongside Musgraves and frequent co-writers and co-producers Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk.
Alongside the new song, Musgraves has also shared news of an upcoming tour, which will take her through Vancouver, Toronto and Laval later this year. Father John Misty, Lord Huron and Nickel Creek are set to open.
