Following her award-winning score for Todd Phillips' Joker, composer Hildur Guðnadóttir will return to lend music to the film's forthcoming sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux.

A new Variety profile notes that the Icelandic artist has begun work on new music for the film, reuniting with director Phillips and lead clown Joaquin Phoenix.

Guðnadóttir — whose recent score work can be heard in Sarah Polley's Women Talking and Todd Field's Tár captured an Academy Award for Best Original Score, a BAFTA Award for Best Original Music and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for her Joker score, making her the first solo female composer to win all three.

Last August, Lady Gaga confirmed her involvement in the film following rumblings that the Joker sequel would be a musical. The pop star's tease also pointed to a potential release date of October 4, 2024, for the film.

In 2021, Guðnadóttir and husband Sam Slater scored Electronic Arts' first-person shooter Battlefield 2042. Her most recent solo album remains 2014's Saman.
