Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Tanika Charles, Alice Glass, Simple Plan, Stars

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Feb 18, 2022

Whether or not you believe in the whole groundhog-seeing-his-shadow thing, continuing low temperatures solidify another long six weeks of winter ahead of us. In other words: we'll be relying on the furnace of the week's best new Canadian music to keep us warm for a little longer.

This week's lineup is stacked with collaborations — including some that don't make much sense at all! Tanika Charles linking with DijahSB is a match made in heaven, and Three Days Grace have a similar synergy with Lukas Rossi. Meanwhile, Marianas Trench's Josh Ramsay teaming up with country singer Dallas Smith is a curveball, but not even that can match the shock and awe of Simple Plan and Sum 41 burying the hatchet with new collaborative single "Ruin My Life."

In terms of album releases, we had a big one with the solo debut of Alice Glass — read our review. There were also new LPs from Tennyson (Rot) and Basement Revolver, as well as EP drops from Blue Hawaii and Katie Tupper — all of which were among Exclaim!'s 32 Most Anticipated Canadian Albums of 2021.

And there's a lot more on the horizon, with Stars, Deanna Petcoff, Constantines' Steven Lambke, Frontperson, Jane Inc and Georgia Harmer all previewing new albums this week.

Unending winter or nevertheless spring persisting, we've got your soundtrack with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
