Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Sum 41, Zoon, Milk & Bone, July Talk

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Dec 22, 2023

These always get a little weird toward the end of the year, with all the best-of lists done and dusted and artists finally ready to give themselves a little semblance of downtime over the holidays. We focused on all things holly and jolly last week with the annual Holid-Eh! List, compiling the best new Canadian Christmas music — but now we're back to business as usual, with this catch-all basket of late-December new releases.

While nobody's really putting out albums this week (that would be offensive to baby Jesus), Sum 41 give us a taste of the Hell side of their forthcoming final record, and Zoon gets remixed by Yonatan Gat. Meanwhile, Milk & Bone are slowing things down with a new version of "Movies," and July Talk are celebrating the longest night of the year with their annual solstice covers project.

Elsewhere, BADBADNOTGOOD team with the 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE collective, and PACKS continues to preview next month's Melt the Honey with "Paige Machine." Gayance joins forces with HONEY B and long-time collaborator Dapapa to go "FREAK MODE," bringing the energy we all need to get through this final Friday before Christmas.

Sonic gifts abound with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
