Between TikTok vs. Universal, unsavoury rap beef and people trauma-dumping on Elmo, it has certainly been a week. It's also a new month; we're through January at long last. All this considered, it's about time for a playlist refresh of the week's best new Canadian music.
This week, we have Backxwash dropping her first (killer) verse of the year alongside La+ch and SVDP, BADBADNOTGOOD teaming up with Houston musician Reggie, and Rochelle Jordan joining forces with Logic1000. Bollywood hitmaker Jonita Gandhi has also released a great multilingual pop song, "It Is What It Is (Madhaniya)," as the lead track of her new EP.
Speaking of album releases, we've got new records from Vera Sola (Peacemaker), NYSSA (Shake Me Where I'm Foolish), Jeen (Gold Control), and Exclaim! New Faves alum Jahmal Padmore.
Elsewhere, Montreal's Hua Li 化力 and Calgary's Sunglaciers announced new LPs with notable singles. There are also new preview tracks from the forthcoming Daniel Romano's Outfit, Ducks Ltd., Royal Tusk, Eve Parker Finley and Dana Gavanski albums to whet your appetite even further.
